It will wear over time as it is a surface treatment. How long this takes depends greatly on the individual person's own chemical makeup along with how often the ring is worn. We seal our oxidized black silver items with a museum quality microwax to help preserve the finish. However it will still wear. You can prolong the finish by removing the ring prior to working with or washing your hands.
